Davison started with Seaham Colliery, joining Huddersfield Town in July 1980. He showed promise and made one start and one game from the bench before Halifax Town paid £20,000 for him in August 1981. He fulfilled his early promise and scored twenty-nine goals in sixty-three League starts before Derby County paid £90,000 for him in December 1982. He gave the Rams good service scoring eighty-three goals in two hundred and six games before they sold him to Leeds United for £350,000 on 18th July 1987. He helped Leeds to gain promotion to Division One in 1989-90, scoring thirty-one goals in ninety-one League appearances, of which twelve were as a substitute. However, with the purchase of Rod Wallace, for the first season in Division One, his appearances became rare and infrequent. He was loaned to his former club, Derby County, in September 1991 and he scored eight times in ten starts and in March 1992 he was not as prolific with four in six starts and five off the bench for Sheffield United. He was sold to Leicester City in August 1992 for £50,000 and he scored six goals in twenty-one starts and four games from the bench. He then moved to Sheffield United in September 1993, where he scored once in twelve League games, of which three were as a substitute. In October 1994 he joined Rotherham United, but his career was coming to an end as he netted four goals in twenty starts and two more from the bench, after he had been loaned to Hull City in November 1995 where he scored four goals in eleven starts, he was released by the Millers in June 1996.(Leeds United Player Details)

He became an almost ever-present in the Leeds side through the times of Eddie Gray and then Billy Bremner, and even with Howard Wilkinson, but after he had helped United to promotion to the First Division, Wilkinson brought in John Lukic as first choice. He remained his deputy until July 1993 when he joined Carlisle United as player coach. He had been loaned to Luton Town in March 1992, where he started four games, and Sheffield United in April 1992, where he started one game and he had amassed two hundred and twenty-seven starts at Elland Road in his over eight years there. Deane

Brian Christoper/Brian

24-02-1994

1993-2005

CF

Chapeltown, Leeds

07-02-1968

Deane played for Leeds United’s Youth team in 1984 after starring for Leeds City Boys, but was not taken on and instead he joined Doncaster Rovers as an apprentice on 14th December 1985. A traditional target-man striker, he proved highly popular at Doncaster and his powerful displays saw him move to Sheffield United on 19th July 1988 for £30,000, which was increased to £40,000 after he had played forty games. He had scored twelve League goals in sixty-six games, of which twelve were from the bench. In his first season at Sheffield United he struck up a devastating partnership with Tony Agana and they netted forty-six goals between them as the Blades earned promotion to Division Two. He was top scorer in the following season when Sheffield United finished runners-up to Leeds in Division Two and went on the England tour of Australasia, earning two caps against New Zealand. A third followed against Spain to add to his three “B” International Caps. He became Leeds’ record signing when they bought him for £2.9 million on 14th July 1993. While at Bramall Lane he scored eighty-three League goals in one hundred and ninety-eight starts. Despite scoring a last minute equalizer on his United debut, Deane struggled to live down his big price tag and it was only when Tony Yeboah was signed that he really got a new lease of life, playing on the left side of the attack. He was voted “Player of the Year” in 1994-95. He scored just thirty-two goals in one hundred and ninety-eight League games for Leeds before returning to Bramall Lane on 1st August 1997 for £1.5 million. After eleven League goals in twenty-four starts, he left Sheffield United for Benfica of Portugal for £1 million on 15th January 1998, before returning to England to join Middlesbrough for £3 million on 12th October 1998 after scoring seven goals in eighteen appearances. He managed eighteen League goals in seventy-two starts and fifteen games from the bench for the Tees-siders before moving to Leicester City on 29th November 2001 for £150,000. He was a little more prolific for the Foxes getting nineteen League goals in only fifty-two games, of which eight were as a substitute, before being freed to West Ham United on 31st October 2003. After six League goals in nine starts and twenty substitute appearances, he had a short trial at Elland Road. He returned to Leeds United for a second spell, arriving on a free transfer on 21st July 2004. He considered offers from several clubs before deciding to return to Leeds, but after little more than half a season at Elland Road, in which he scored six League goals in thirty-one appearances, of which eight were as a substitute, he was off on his travels again and joined promotion-chasing Sunderland on 24th March 2005. His haul at Elland Road included four goals in one game at home to Queens Park Rangers on 20th November 2004 as Leeds won emphatically by 6-1 after a blitz of goals in the first half. For Deane in particular, this was a day to remember. The Thirty-six-year-old had never previously scored a hat-trick for Leeds United in two spells at the club spanning twelve years. In this game he needed less than half the game to complete the feat and even added a fourth for good measure later on. Not only did he bag four for himself, but he laid on the other two goals for David Healy and Jermaine Wright respectively. Not bad for a man who had only managed one League goal in the eighteen previous games that season. It was a game for everyone to remember Brian Deane by. His stay with Sunderland was brief, only four substitute appearances, and he was not retained at the end of the season. He went to Australia and played for Perth Glory in the Australian A-League. He left mid-season after failing to make an impact and sustaining what appeared to be a long-term injury. Rather than impede the club by sitting back and taking his wages while injured, he terminated the contract which then allowed the club to bring in other players within the salary cap system. After leaving Perth Glory, Deane re-signed for Sheffield United, returning for a third spell with the club on 23rd December 2005 to boost their striking options. He retired at the beginning of 2006-07 season having made just two substitute appearance on his third stint at Bramall Lane. Deane then became a Sports Consultant for Blacks Solicitors in Leeds.(Leeds United Player Details)

He played his Junior football with Tamworth and then joined Stafford Rangers in the 1991-92 season. He had trials with Liverpool and Leeds, but with Leeds it was just one game for the Reserves. According to Devlin, Howard Wilkinson was keen to sign him, but he went to Notts County, for £40,000 on 22nd February 1992, who were also in the First Division. Leeds finished champions and County were relegated. However, it proved a good move for him, as he went on to score twenty-five League goals from one hundred and thirty-two starts and nine as a substitute. It proved a good move for County too, as, four years later on 29th February 1996 he was sold to Birmingham City for £250,000. He stayed at St Andrew's for two years, scoring twenty-eight League goals from sixty-one starts and fifteen from the bench. On 13th March 1998 he was signed by Sheffield United and remained there for four seasons scoring twenty-four League goals from one hundred and twenty-four starts and twenty-three games as a substitute. In his time at Bramall Lane he was loaned out to his former club Notts County, in October 1998, and made five League starts. He then joined another former club in Birmingham City, in February 2002, where he scored once and started eleven League games and made two appearances as a substitute. On 8th May 2002, Birmingham paid £200,000 to take him back to St Andrew's. It was there that he gained his ten Scottish caps and scored three goals in thirty-four League games, of which fourteen were as a substitute. On 12th September 2003, Watford paid £150,000 to take him to Vicarage Road, where he scored six League goals in seventy-five starts and four more from the bench. His next move was to Walsall, on a free transfer on 17th January 2006 and there he scored one League goal in making eight starts. On 7th September 2006, he again was given a free transfer, rejoining his first club, Tamworth, where he started one League game and came off the bench three times, before retiring on 30th November 2006. He had a short spell with Sutton Coldfield Town before signing for Halesowen Town on 19th February 2007. He joined Rugby Town as player/assistant manager in January 2008, but soon left. Youth Cup in 1996-97, when he scored three goals in twenty-nine League starts and one game from the bench, and started all eleven Cup games. He was also included in the Reserves early in the season, firstly as an unused substitute, then twice as a late substitute, before making his run on debut in the final game of the season. He signed professional in July 1997. He was allocated the Leeds United #24 shirt in 1998-99 and #34 in 1999-2000 and 200-01. He had a loan spell with York City in August 1999, in which he started three games for their first team, and in April 200 he had a trial with Birmingham City, and then, in October 2000, he had a trial with Aberdeen that fell through. He left Leeds on 2nd July 2001 to join Barnsley but after just three days of pre-season training he fractured his shin and that kept him out for the 2001-02 season. He had a trial with Port Vale from 18th to 22nd March 2002. He went on loan to Doncaster Rovers from 2nd October 2002 to 12th May 2003 but did not make their first team. In late September 2003 he left Barnsley when his contract was ended by mutual consent. He then had a spell with Seaham Red Star before moving on to Durham City in December 2004. In November 2005, Dixon joined Kettering Town but returned once more to Seaham Red Star in late January 2006. A month later he moved to Horden Colliery Welfare but was sent off for violent conduct after ten minutes of his club debut. He had brief spells with Newcastle Blue Star and Sunderland Ryhope before joining Bishop Auckland early in the 2007-08 season. He returned to join Seaham Red Star and was the Manager and was still playing for their Reserves making eight starts and one appearance from the bench in 2015-16 and two starts in 2016-17, but resigned in January 2017.

He signed for Leeds on 3rd March 1983 and made his debut two days later. He started as an apprentice with Notts County, but went back to Scotland whare he joined Motherwell. He scored twice in twenty-one starts in Scottish League games, together with four games as a substitute before he moved to Dumbarton for £25,000. He had scored seventeen goals in eighty-eight games, of which five were as a substitute. Leeds paid £10,000 for him plus £5,000 for each League game up to fifteen appearances, a deal which eventually cost United £85,000. He went straight into the first team, and was a regular for much of the next two seasons but inconsistency cost him a place and he was replaced by Peter Lorimer when he returned to Leeds in December 1983. He regained his place towards the end of the 1983-84 season but fell out of favour in 1984-85 and he was loaned to Partick Thistle in November 1984, joining them permanently in March 1985 for a fee of £15,000. He had scored four League goals in forty League appearances, of which four we as a substitute, while at Elland Road. He scored seventeen goals in forty-five games, of which two were from the bench, before being sold to Dunfermline Athletic. He played a big part in the club's promotion from the Scottish Second Division in 1986-87, his first season with the club. He scored seven goals in thirty-four games, including two as a substitute before leaving the club on 19th April 1988. He went to East Fife on loan, where he played four games in 1987-88, and later joined Stranraer, where he scored once in seventeen games, of which one was as a substitute in 1988-89. He later played for Vale of Clyde and Pollok. Sadly, he never lived up to Eddie Gray's assessment of his potential ability. (Leeds United Player Details)

He started with Tolka Rovers and was with Home Farm when he went over to Leeds to become a trainee in 1996. He scored twice as he started six and came off the bench five times in the League for the Juniors as they won the Northern Intermediate League and made one appearance for the Reserves in their final fixture of the season after being an unused substitute on several occasions. That team featured Robbie Keane, Richard Dunne and Stephen McPhail, and several others that went on to better things. At Leeds during his time there were Irish players such as Ian Harte, Gary Kelly and Stephen McPhail and also Damian Lynch and Alan Maybury. A series of injuries halted his chances of making it at Leeds. He was sidelined in his first year there when he injured the cartilage in his knee in training. He had an operation and the doctor told him he had two options. Firstly, he could repair the knee totally, which would take a long time to recover from. Or secondly, he could get some cartilage removed and the recovery time would be shorter. Being young and naïve he took the second option, the quick fix, and that was the root of all his injury problems after that. He had five operations in total on his knee. Despite suffering these recurring knee injuries, his biggest achievement was playing for Brian Kerr’s Under-Eighteens in Cyprus in 1998, scoring a penalty in the final against a German side which starred future full-internationals Sebastian Deisler and Timo Hildebrand. Unfortunately, he did not make the grade at Leeds for his competition contained many young internationals or future internationals and he returned to Dublin and joined St Patrick's on a free transfer on 1st July 1999. St Patrick's signed him having been impressed by his form in the 1998 international tournament. However, he needed an operation at St Patricks after about five or six games because his knee went again. Then after a few years he needed another operation and that was why he eventually left, despite several successful years when plenty of silverware was won. He stayed there for seven seasons before he moved to Kilkenny City in July 2006. Aiden Fitzpatrick, who had played with him at St Patrick's, was with Kilkenny at the time and asked him to sign there. He took the operation which was needed, missed six months, and signed for them for the second half of the season. The travelling was a nightmare. The lads were young and mainly from Dublin so they weren’t really accepted there. After one season he moved to Kildare County in July 2007. John Ryan asked him to join him at Kildare and he enjoyed a good first year there. But he was advised by doctors to pack it in. John Ryan asked him to stay on another year so he did it, although he probably shouldn’t have but ultimately he was forced to retire. He the started coaching St Kevins Boys Under-Sixteen side in Drumcondra. He gained his youth certificate Coaching badge and later that year obtained his Uefa B Licence.

His family moved from Australia to Birmingham where he had trials with Aston Villa as a youngster and was taken on as an apprentice in 1981. He turned professional in January 1982 and won eleven Under-Twenty-One caps for England before he left Villa for Chelsea in July 1987 for £475,000. At Villa Park he scored once in one hundred and six starts and five as a substitute in the League. In four years at Stamford Bridge, he helped Chelsea to the 1988-89 Second Division Championship and scored the winner in the 1990 Zenith Data Systems Final at Wembley against Middlesbrough. He also won six England full caps, including four games in which he came on for the second half in place of Stuart Pearce, and seven at “B” level. At Stamford Bridge he scored eleven goals in one hundred and forty-six League games. He was signed by Howard Wilkinson for £1.3 million in May 1991 and was an instant success being voted “Player of the Year” in United’s Championship winning season of 1991-92. He was a scorer at Wembley as Leeds beat Liverpool 4-3 to win the Charity Shield in August 1992. He continued to make progress on the International front but he was blighted by injuries in his last two seasons with Leeds. Instant control and acceleration marked Dorigo as United’s best left back since Terry Cooper. He was regular first choice until knee and hamstring problems interrupted his career and Ian Harte’s rise signalled competition for his place. Dorigo enjoyed an extended run in the side in 1996-97. After six years in West Yorkshire and just one season under the new management of George Graham, Dorigo found himself surplus to requirements at Elland Road. He had scored five League goals in one hundred and seventy-one League games, of which three had been as a substitute. In July 1997 he made the surprise move to Serie B side Torino, managed by former Liverpool boss Graeme Souness. Six games into the new Serie B season, Souness left Turin and was replaced by Edoardo Reja, who continued to use Dorigo's services as the team pushed for a return to the top flight. Promotion from Serie B to Serie A is automatic for the top three in the division, whilst a fourth place goes to the winner of a play-off between the fourth and fifth placed teams. Torino had a strong season and in the end finished just one point behind third-placed Calgiari and those automatic berths. Their play-off against Perugia, who had ended the season level on points with Torino, finished 1-1 after Ferrante had cancelled out Tovalieri of Perugia's opener with only ten minutes left. With no further goals in extra-time, promotion to the glamorous Serie A came down to a penalty shoot-out. After penalty heart-ache against West Germany in Turin eight years previously, Dorigo once again experienced the pain the shootout lottery can cause. With all nine penalties having been converted, Dorigo stepped up to take the last kick, but he let his shot drift too far wide and the ball struck the left-hand post, handing victory and promotion to Perugia. It was an awful way for his Italian experience to end and after thirty League appearances and two goals (scored against Ravenna and Foggia), the former England international left and returned to England, in October 1998, with Jim Smith's Derby County. Dorigo wound his career up by playing in the Premiership for the Rams for almost two years, scoring once in thirty-seven starts and four games from the bench in the League. On 12th July 2000 he was transferred on a free to Gudjon Thordarson's Stoke City, where he spent one final season. He started thirty-five and came off the bench twice in the League, before retiring on 1st June 2001. In his career he won fifteen Full, seven “B” and eleven Under-Twenty-One Caps for England. Duberry started at Chelsea in June 1993, where he was a trainee and had a successful loan period with Bournemouth in September 1995, making seven appearances for them. There seemed to be a dearth of English central defenders at the time and he was considered a prospect, but could not make the Chelsea first team on a regular basis. After seventy-seven starts and nine substitute appearances in which he got one goal, he moved to Leeds United in July 1999, for £4.5 million, but a younger Englishman, Jonathan Woodgate, stepping up to take the place alongside club captain Lucas Radebe in central defence. Charlton Athletic came close to signing Duberry and bringing him back to London. After getting his chance due to an injury crisis at Elland Road, he started to impress before he too became a victim of the club's injury hoodoo when he was ruled out for the season in September 2000. His involvement in the Woodgate and Lee Bowyer court case and his evidence which did not help the two, meant any future alliance with Woodgate would be unlikely, and his consequential dislike by the fans. His future appeared to lie elsewhere. At the start of the 2002/03 season, he had played just thirty-one games for Leeds in three years. Neither O'Leary nor Venables would use him. Duberry announced in the summer of 2002 that he wanted to leave for first team fooball but no one wanted or could afford him. He played in most of the 2003-04 pre-season games under Peter Reid and best friend Jody Morris signed for Leeds. Things were looking up for Duberry and it seemed like Reid would give him his chance but then bad luck and irony hit Duberry in the face as he broke a cheekbone in a friendly. This sidelined him for eight weeks. It seemed like Duberry had again missed his chance as Reid had to bring in central defensive cover in the form of World Cup winner Roque Junior and French international Zoumana Camara. Duberry finally got his chance after Eddie Gray sent Roque Junior packing. He made a number of vital goal-line clearances, won a number of penalties and even scored. He was often seen in the final minutes of games pushing forward as a makeshift attacker. One couldn’t blame him for lack of effort but sadly Duberry really wasn't in the class of the men he replaced. He was also too highly paid and Leeds needed to shift him as they couldn’t afford his wages now that they were in the First Division. Well, no one wanted Duberry AND his wages. Wolves wanted him but only if Leeds paid £18,000 A WEEK towards his wages. Blackwell decided at the last minute that Leeds might as well keep him as the squad was so small. However, after a few appearances Blackwell decided that he could do without Duberry and in October 2004 he was dispatched to Stoke City on loan for three months; much to the relief of the Leeds fans and the player, who had been coming in for a lot of stick. Duberry played well during his loan at Stoke, making fifteen League appearances, and Blackwell had to recall him one game earlier than expected due to a crisis in the Leeds United central defence for the Third Round FA Cup match versus Birmingham City. Duberry returned to form, within fifteen minutes, making a play that led to Birmingham's second goal. Blackwell substituted him almost immediately and that was the sad end to his jinxed Leeds United career. He had scored four goals in fifty-four starts and four games from the bench in the League, and started four F.A. Cup ties and came on twice as a substitute , was four times a substitute in the League Cup and started nine and came of the bench once in European games but did not score in any of the three competitions. Incredibly new Wolves manager Glenn Hoddle was strongly rumoured to be looking at him! He even turned down a move to Nottingham Forest under new Manager Gary Megson. In March 2005 Duberry agreed to accept a payout and a free transfer to Stoke City, signing a two-and-a-half year deal. He became a regular at Stoke making eighty more League appearances and scoring one goal as well as making five F.A. Cup, two League Cup appearances before Reading came along and signed him at the end of January 2007 for £800,000 to take up the challenge of again playing in England’s Premier League. He made forty-seven starts and one substitute appearance in the League and one F.A. Cup and three League Cup and two play-off finals appearances. Reading decided on 15th May 2009 not to renew Duberry's contract. On 10th July 2009 Wycombe Wanderers signed Duberry on a two year contract and made him club Captain. His contract was cancelled on 1st February 2010, after he had made just eighteen League and one F.A. Cup appearances. He signed with Scottish Premier League side St Johnstone, rejoining his former Chelsea and Leeds team-mate Jody Morris, initially to the end of the 2009-10 season. Despite family concerns he signed a further one year contract in May 2010. It was those family concerns which led to him leaving St Johnstone at the end of the 2010-11 season. He had scored one goal in fifty Scottish League appearances, of which one was from the bench. He had also starteded four Scottish Cup and three Scottish League Cup ties. On 1st June 2011, he signed a two year contract with Oxford United and at thirty-five his career was coming to an end and Oxford became his final club. His contract was not renewed at the end of the 2012-13 season. He had scored three goals in forty-five starts and two games from the bench in the League, started one and came off the bench once in the F.A. Cup and started one in the League Cup, but scored in neither. He trained with Ryman Premier League team, Hendon in the summer and signed for them on a week-to-week contract on 9th August 2013, but took part in only four games before announcing his retirement on 2nd October 2013. He collected five England Under-Twenty-One Caps, in his internatioonal career. (Leeds United Player Details)
